"The first name on the lips of anyone ticking off the new wave of new-music youngsters in Chicago, the string quartet and promiscuous collaborators seem to be able to play anything" -Chicago Mag

Like his fellow countryman Britten, London-born Thomas Adès (b. 1971) has been described as a “complete musician.” (NY Times)  His Arcadiana string quartet has had countless performances around the world and is paired with three short works written by Britten in his early 20s.  Performed by the Spektral Quartet, one of Chicago’s most intrepid and adroit ensembles and Ensemble in Residence at the University of Chicago Department of Music.
Presented by UChicago Department of Music.
