“Akinmusire’s forceful outing is as noteworthy for the strength of the overall concept as for the individual accomplishments of its leader, head-turning as they are…the music and the band vibe are wonderfully original and current.” -DownBeat Magazine

Winner of both 2012 DownBeat Critics Poll for Best Jazz Trumpet and the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire records on the prestigious Blue Note label.  Named by the L.A. Times as one of the 2011 “Faces to Watch,” Akinmusire has collaborated with the leading artists of contemporary jazz, including Vijay Iyer, Stefon Harris, Christian McBride and his mentor, Jason Moran.
