Hailed as one of the top oud players in the world and named a 2015 NEA National Heritage Fellow, Rahim AlHaj is a performer and composer who combines a traditional Iraqi musical foundation with contemporary styling and influences. He has collaborated with artists from jazz guitarist Bill Frisell to contemporary string ensemble Kronos Quartet to rock band REM.
