Winner of the American Music Center's 2007 Trailblazer Award, resident ensemble eighth blackbird, in its first full Harris Theater concert, presents some exciting finds. Experience sound as vision in a mixed-media work by the young Tamar Muskal, plus music by Martin Bresnick, Belgian composer Thierry de Mey's Musique de Tables for six hands, and eighth blackbird long-time favorite Fred Rzewski.

Today's ever-expanding musical universe spirals into the future by drawing from a distant and diverse past. Recent works by Sofia Gubaidulina and Shih-Hui Chen explore profoundly expressive sound vistas featuring the accordion and the pipa. Salonen's Floof offers its own beguiling take on vocal and instrumental sound.
