Hailed as “a sonically daring ensemble who perform new works with charisma and integrity” by BBC Music Magazine, Akropolis Reed Quintet breaks the musical mold, presenting imaginative arrangements of classics alongside excitingly original reed works. This eclectic program includes a Ballet Suite by UChicago's own Augusta Read Thomas, Gershwin's beloved An American in Paris, the world premiere of Derrick Skye's A Soulful Nexus, blending dance music grooves and classical Persian melodies, and the group's most performed work – Splinter by Chicago-based composer Marc Mellits.
