Mandel Hall (Reynolds Club)
A string quartet from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra presents a program of brain teasers. Unravel puzzle-like works, including Ruth Crawford Seeger's String Quartet 1931—a richly complex piece designed around patterns of numbers—plus Prokofiev's folk-inspired second quartet and Shostakovich's vivid fourth quartet.
Join us for a pre-concert lecture (6:30 PM) with Assistant Professor Paula Harper and post-concert discussion with the artists moderated by Professor Harper.
Supported by the Office of the Provost and Mary Lou Gorno.
