Led by jazz superstar cellist and composer, Tomeka Reid, the Tomeka Reid Stringtet is a 17-member improvising chamber orchestra featuring prolific string players and percussionists from across the country. The ensemble unites for the Chicago premiere of a co-commissioned new work, bringing a collective fluency in all styles of contemporary creative music and previous collaborations ranging from William Parker and Henry Threadgill to Pauline Oliveros and Tristan Murail to Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder.  

Before the concert, enjoy a free performance by the Morgan Pirtle Quartet at Café Logan from 6:00–7:00 PM as part of the Chicago Stage series, presented by the Logan Center and the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
